Why is it important in schools?
Today, technology forms the backbone of many instructional units in schools. Students, and teachers, are interacting with technology on a daily basis and using it for a variety of work, including writing essays, conducting research, designing presentations, and communicating. Digital citizenship is a 21st century skill that must now be addressed in all classroom settings in order for technology users to collaborate, create, and communicate effectively and safely. Digital citizenship should be taught not only to protect technology users from harm in the digital world, but also to create more responsible users.
